Public Hearing Notice:  Thursday, 5/18 at 6:30 P.M.   Zoning change for the Wildflower….Be there or be square!!!

Last year at this time we, the residents, were executing the ordinance petition gathering process and fighting just about every power broker in town.

Our goal was to gather at least 2,000 signatures by the May 30, 2016 turn-in event. We met that goal, but the battles would continue for another six months.

The rest is history and we’re now starting to see the results of our hard work.

Public Hearing Notices are up at the Wildflower site for changing the Comp Plan Map and Site Zoning from commercial to recreation. See attachment.

Good news indeed.

  1. This whole thing has been a ridiculous fight. That property was never a park and the project as proposed by the Hillstone group would have improved public space as well as add a much-needed waterfront restaurant to out city. I live across the bridge in Por La Mar and am embarrassed by some of the arguments against this property’s development. Those who are opposed either don’t remember what it was in the 80’s and 90’s or what it’s become now — an eyesore. Silver Palm park (across the street) is way underutilized, poorly maintained and pretty questionable-looking after dark – here’s an idea: Let’s do another one just like it.

  2. I agree with Michael B. Martin. There isn’t any real reason for another “park” on the north side of the bridge. It should have, and should be, a much needed waterfront restaurant. Silver Palm Park is just a parking lot for boaters……..

    • Mikey, I remember what it was like in the 80’s and 90’s .It was full of drunken idiots that were an embarrassment to the city. The city had to permanently post cops outside to keep drunks from driving and killing someone. So you are sitting over in Por La Mar and want a restaurant that you will go to twice a year. There are 300 restaurants in boca and want to steal the property that boca residents paid for to become a park. I was in those meetings when the city decided to buy the property for a park pal. 27,456 residents are a lot smarter than you. That referendum was for 6 properties on the intercoastal that the developers wanted for development. You obviously don’t have grandchildren that would like to go over and play in the park. People like you are an embarrassment. You want to pave over our city and than had north to the Hamptons when you get tired of dining out. We are doing this for future generations.

  3. I agree with Michael and Lynda. The last thing we need is another park in Boca Raton. I would prefer a waterfront restaurant as well. .

    • The last thing boca needs is people like you that want to steal our green space and had north when you get tired of dining out in boca. We don’t care what you think. We view you as thiefs in the dark.

  4. I also agree that another park is not needed.

A restaurant with a dock was great idea but selfish self servers won.

    • Ron, we don’t care what you think. “another park is not needed”. Who the hell are you deciding what is needed or not. You are selfish by trying to steal what little green space there is available on the intercoastal. We are going to put a beautiful park there and you can come over and take a nap . There are 300 restaurants in boca and you want one with a dock. You got to be kidding pal.

  5. The last thing we need in this area is another concrete building restaurant and parking lot. Let’s enjoy the natural area and make sure it is preserved for future generations. Lots of wonderful ideas proposed to provide a recreational area for residents and visitors that provides a way to savor the beauty of nature, while also enjoying some boating, walking, and other outdoor activities.

  6. It is now time to execute the will of the 2/3 majority of voters. One can agree or not agree with the outcome of the election, but the outcome should be honored. That is what democracy is all about. And we should be grateful it is so. It’s worth knowing that I would say the exact same thing if the Wildflower vote went the opposite direction. We should all be grateful we can debate, petition, and vote – people around the world are still dying (literally) for this opportunity.

  7. This is a very good tip particularly to those
new to the blogosphere. Short but very precise information… Thank you for sharing this one.
