Composer and Pianist extraordinaire ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ซ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ข๐๐๐ซ๐ฒ is not just any pianist. He created a a concept and company called ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ซ๐๐ฏ๐๐ฅ, an immersive musical experience that takes place either in iconic venues or exotic outdoor settings. How lucky was I to experience a Zen like setting while listening to Hidary’s meditative sounds as he was performing barefoot with his piano immersed in a pool at the luxurious hotel ๐๐ก๐ ๐๐จ๐๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐ง.
The event was billed as a “Silent Piano Concert.” How does one perform in silence? We were all supplied headphones which was the only way to hear the music. I was able to enjoy the music either when luxuriating in a lounge chair by the pool or as I wandered off a few yards away while enjoying the ocean views. Uniquely, Hidary performs without pause, as his music is primarily meant to relax you and help you escape from the hectic pace of life. In fact, when he addresses the crowd before playing, he is purposefully soft spoken in a meditative sort of way to get you to relax and prepare you for the stillness and calm.
Hidary is well travelled as he takes his one man show on the road to over 100 cities worldwide. He is off to perform in Central Park in NYC and has also performed at Lincoln Center, the Brooklyn Museum and outdoor venues from the Egyptian pyramids to Antarctica.
