The Boca Raton Garden Club will hold its annual Holiday House fundraiser on Thursday Oct 28, Friday Oct 29, Saturday Oct 30, from 9AM to 3PM, and Sunday Oct 31 from 10 AM to 2PM, 2021, at its clubhouse and gardens, 4281 Northwest 3rd Avenue, Boca Raton.  Masks and social distancing will be required at this indoor/outdoor event!

“Our members have been busy creating handmade items all through the pandemic,” said Holiday House Chairperson, Patty Moum.  “We have seasonal decorations for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukah and Christmas, as well as unusual creations for year-round enjoyment – many made from native Florida materials, such as palm fronds, pine cones and seashells.” Patty added, “New this year we have hand painted clay flower pots turned into scary witches with heads made from dried coconuts!  Lovely, one-of-a-kind wreaths and holiday centerpieces are popular as well as angels made completely from palm fronds.”

“In addition to the wonderful crafts,” added Landscaping Chairman, Joan Witter, “we will be offering a huge plant sale in our club’s beautiful gardens. Hundreds of lush, healthy, plants grown and cultivated by our club’s ‘dirt gardeners’ include herbs, orchids, succulents and a wide variety of natives. Gardening tools, accessories and ornamental pieces are available for purchase as well.”

The Holiday House event also features the sale of homemade treats including brownies, cookies, pies and cakes – all baked by club members.  Dellie Krebs, Bake Sale Co-chair, noted, “Every year more members donate their specialties.  People will buy their favorite pies and breads and freeze them for the holidays. We have a selection to rival any bakery – from cookies to quiche!”

“Anyone looking for unusual handmade decorations and gifts can find a complete and inexpensive selection at Holiday House,” said Club President, Mary Kaub “We invite everyone to come and shop – or just browse and bring a friend!  Relax and stroll through our Club’s spectacular gardens!”

“Our Boca Raton Garden Club has been serving the Boca community for over 65 years,” Mary noted. “Our yearly Holiday House is the club’s major fundraiser which supports college scholarships and junior gardening programs for local students, Garden Therapy for seniors at FAU’s Memory and Wellness Center, as well as Boy Scout projects and sending students from Boca schools to the environmental Camp Wekiva.”
