The New York Times Sued After Firing Employee Needing Brain Surgery

    Jakub Porzycki/GettyA former disability accessibility manager for The New York Times claims the newspaper threatened her with a poor performance review for continuing to sound the alarm over the company’s disability access problems before ultimately firing her shortly after she informed the Times she needed time off for brain surgery.In a complaint filed in New York County court on Wednesday, Chandra Carney alleges that the newspaper violated the New York State and City Human Rights Law when it terminated her employment last year. She is suing the Times for retaliation and disability discrimination.The New York Times and Carney’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request from The Daily Beast for comment.Read more at The Daily Beast.
