Horror moment planes nearly collide in ‘near miss’ at airport as Midway traffic control gasps

    A SOUTHWEST jet and a private plane have narrowly avoided a collision on the runway after a month of air disasters. The two aircraft had a close call at the Chicago Midway Airport on Tuesday afternoon. As the blue passenger plane inched toward the runway, the private plane slowly moved across its travel path. At the last minute, the Southwest jet veered back up into the sky. Air traffic control audio captured the pilot’s reaction to the close call. “How’d that happen?” the pilot said. The other ATC official calmly responded with the details of the near miss. Southwest Airlines hasn’t responded to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment. Social media users shared their shocked reactions to the incident. “That could have been a tragic disaster. Somebody needs to be fired,” one X user wrote. “This is getting out of hand,” another noted. It comes just one day after terrified Delta passengers had to evacuate on an emergency slide upon landing after the plane filled with smoke.
