Supply a Culture of Gratitude Many people anticipate the holiday season as a time when work slows down compared with the rest of the year. However, at WDSrx, the schedule around the holiday season and New Year is a busy period for supply chain logistics. Our clients usually conduct end-of-year inventory audits that coincide with the months of December and January. According to WDSrx Vice President Rob Gerstein: “Annual inventory audits support clients in three primary areas: First, a count is necessary for end-of-year client accounting records. Second, the annual cycle count helps to begin the New Year with matching data between our Datex WMS system and physical inventory within our warehouses. Third, the process confirms to our clients that our documentation and data are correct as we deliver Confidence Beyond Compliance.” Counting products in our warehouses requires patience and concentration. The same qualities are required to evaluate our emotional well-being. You may be familiar with the phrase “Count your blessings.” This recommendation prompts each of us to think about things we are grateful for in our lives. Perhaps it may be possible this year to combine adding inventory with adding up people and experiences we cherish. Expressing one’s “supply of gratitude” helps us feel better about our lives and ourselves. When we think about things that make us happy, our emotional well-being improves. For each scan during the inventory process, think about someone or something that makes you smile. It could be a family member, a great meal you had, a vacation spot or favorite pet. Maybe it’s the smell of your mother’s cooking or how you laugh with your best friend. One scan equals one good thought. You may find that this practice becomes a habit. It may turn out that your work may become easier, that you feel better more often and your relationships improve. Positive thinking can transform our behavior and help us to find a new and improved perspective about our place in the world. The objective is to carry this habit into the New Year. The year 2021 was filled with challenges. If you […] The post Increase Supply of Gratitude for Healthy Warehouse Workplace appeared first on WDSrx - Woodfield Distribution - Pharmaceutical Logistics.
An efficient payment process with strong financial services management benefits pharmaceutical manufacturers and trading partners. Prompt invoicing and revenue recognition builds confidence with wholesale and retail accounts and supports timely and accurate transactions for accounting requirements. Financial services management performed by WDSrx streamlines logistics and accounting by fulfilling orders for products, generating transactional information and distributing invoices from within the same logistics network. Operations and finance teams work together to share data, adding flexibility and responsiveness for small and large clients. Adding convenience and increasing productivity for clients is a primary objective of financial services programs managed by WDSrx. From invoice creation to complete monthly financial reporting, the dedicated WDSrx financial services team prepares and distributes reports and customizes data to meet client requirements. Contracting with WDSrx for financial services management provides multiple benefits. Financial services and logistics services are performed within the same company and often within the same building. This proximity enables greater communication between teams supporting the same client. For example, financial transactions occur with every change in product inventory. Inbound deliveries increase inventory. Outbound shipments reduce inventory. Collaborative management of operations with financial reporting provides data transparency and increased accuracy to match inventory directly with financial reporting. Reliance on WDSrx for financial services generates efficiencies for manufacturers. Clients work with a dedicated team of experts within WDSrx for financial reporting, reducing the need to hire accounting personnel to handle day-to-day responsibilities. Savings in payroll and benefits can be allocated to core business functions. The range of financial services managed by WDSrx includes several turnkey programs that streamline the value chain allowing clients to focus on core competencies. Financial services options include order-to-cash management, chargeback processing and financial reporting. Order-to-Cash Management Pharmaceutical manufacturers focusing attention on product research and marketing understand that financial management is a significant distraction from core capabilities. The invoicing process drains limited resources for this essential but non-core function. When management assigns employees to split job responsibilities to include invoicing, performance in both areas may decline. Full-time billing staff may reduce funds that might be spent on primary business functions. Summary A newly commercialized dog food manufacturer required a GMP-compliant Third-Party Logistics services provider to establish operations for their e-commerce fulfillment model. The company needed to begin sales on a limited basis and develop their customer base. In addition, logistics support for their business needed to expand with company growth. Customer satisfaction was a primary factor to determine the ideal logistics partner. Challenge The dog food company was in start-up mode without prior experience with their business model. They sought out a 3PL partner with previous expertise in large-volume e-commerce distribution. Unique packaging is an important part of the product appeal. Different order configurations required multiple packaging options from large envelopes and bags of pet food to boxes including different marketing materials, scoops, stickers and related items. The company expected sales to increase sharply as their marketing efforts increased. Their projected growth would require additional labor, equipment and facilities to meet additional customer demand. Further, multiple shipping options with daily pick-ups from several courier services were necessary to assure on-time delivery. Solution Newly commercialized companies including this customer that select an experienced 3PL partner help to assure business success compared with similar companies that attempt to perform logistics services internally to save cost. This animal health firm appreciated that WDSrx works with a large group of e-commerce customers in various industries. With extensive knowledge and understanding of the e-commerce fulfillment process, WDSrx clients benefit from this experience to increase consumer satisfaction. The WDSrx warehouse in Dayton, NJ was chosen as the ideal location to begin operations. Warehouse technicians were trained to assemble five different types of branded customized packaging depending on customer order, plus additional marketing materials in each package. Bags of food and boxes with multiple products required pre-assembly. A process was planned with the client to establish procedures that would enable volume growth with minimal modification to packaging instructions. According to WDSrx Operations Manager Ken York, “We set the right foundation with our client from the start to begin with smaller volume and scale the business quickly.” Labor and other resources were quickly added to accommodate increasing order […] The post Teaching A Dog Food Company New Tricks In E-Commerce Logistics appeared first on WDSrx - Woodfield Distribution - Pharmaceutical Logistics.

Special projects such as kitting and assembly is handled by experienced production technicians and overseen by the WDSrx Quality Assurance Department. WDSrx places samples, gifts and other items with each order during a certain time period or depending on order value. These innovative kitting programs customize experiences for recipients and extends company goodwill that is often reflected in future business growth. Type of Kitting and Special Projects Kitting and Assembly of Prescription Medical Devices Medical device assembly often includes multiple components that must be assembled within special packaging for shipment. These components may come from various separate sources. All components must be received in the proper quantities and at the correct time in order to begin kitting and assembly. It may be necessary to scan each item within the kit as well as additional packaging to comply with requirements of the DSCSA (Drug Supply Chain Security Act). WDSrx trained technicians are skilled at managing assembly and distribution of medical devices. Deliveries to medical professionals are a large part of B2B Kitting and Special Projects. WDSrx provides order fulfillment with clients to ship medical devices and other therapeutic products directly to their practitioner accounts. These healthcare experts are often a source of information for companies that want to generate business with their patients for therapies and treatments. For example, a kit for patient testing placed in a practitioner’s office may be purchased by the patient for home use after receiving the treatment directly from the provider. Bundling Separate items often generate higher revenue when they are combined in a single package. For example, individual vitamin supplements that are more effective when taken together are bundled to add convenience and […] The post Special Projects: Kitting and Assembly of Medical Devices and E-commerce Packaging appeared first on WDSrx - Woodfield Distribution - Pharmaceutical Logistics.
